To support the American University community through the concept of Universal Design for Learning, American University is now offering Kurzweil 3000 to all students, staff, and faculty. Kurzweil 3000 is a multi-sensory learning tool with a suite of powerful reading, writing, and study features that makes curricula accessible for all students.
- Kurzweil 3000 users can upload a variety of electronic file types (including Word, PDF, HTML, and EPUB), to hear text read aloud, annotate within the document, and export notes and highlights to create study guides.
- AU's version of Kurzweil can be accessed through a web browser or downloaded and installed on a Mac or PC.
- Kurzweil 3000 users also gain access to the Google Chrome or Firefox extension: Read the Web.

Obtaining Access to AU's Kurweil 3000 License
- To sign-up for your Kurzweil 3000 license, use the self-registration link.
- Enter your name, AU email address, school, and AU ID number.
- Then, click Add New.
- You will be issued a username and password and receive an email with the download links and user guides.
- Be sure to select Version 22 (subscription/web license), when downloading the Kurzweil 3000 software.
